Posted on

When you're in the middle of dinner is the last time you want to find out your oven has stopped working. Checking on your chicken to finally be ready, only to realize that the temperature inside is cool enough that you can touch the racks inside is never a good realization. If you have this issue, you have a problem. You have a problem with your oven that needs to be repaired. Read on for some troubleshooting tips.

1. Check The Thermometer Inside

Your oven has an internal thermometer to tell the thermostat what temperature it is at and what temperature it needs to get to. If the thermometer or the thermostat inside isn't working properly, it's going to throw off the oven completely and won't reach the proper temperature. On the other hand, you could also have an oven that gets too hot and burns everything, which again, the thermometer and thermostat may be to blame. Check these in your oven, then change them as needed. You can find new parts online and at your local appliance parts supply store.

2. Check The Gas Line

Make sure you have gas for your oven. If you don't have gas and you have a gas oven, you aren't going to have anything heating your oven. You need to check the gas to be sure it's turned on and that you don't have a gas leak anywhere. If you suspect a gas leak, leave your home immediately and call the gas company to sniff for a leak. If you have a gas leak, you need to have the gas line repaired or replaced as needed.

3. Check The Ignitor

The ignitor in your oven may be bad and needs to be changed. The ignitor inside your oven is responsible for giving you a flame to heat up your oven. if the ignitor is bad, you aren't going to have a flame in your oven. The ignitor can be changed yourself, or you can hire a professional if you aren't comfortable with changing this part on your oven on your own.
